Mary Brienza

Mary Brienza is a multi-faceted artist with credits spanning Off-Broadway and regional theatre, television, radio, concert dance and alternative comedy.  Leave It to Me, 42nd Street, My One and Only, Mame, Wall-To-Wall Broadway, Thalia Follies, A Woman Possessed, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, NPR’s Selected Shorts are just some of the shows with which she’s been involved. She shares book, music and lyric writing credits for the musicals The Chalks: An American Family In 3 Chords (Lucille Lortell Foundation grant recipient / Bay Street Theatre) and Holidays with The Chalks (Alliance Theatre) for which she originated the role of country music superstar Judeen Chalk. Her original music has been heard in radio markets across the country as well as Sweden, Belgium and Guam.

As an educator, she is a respected teacher of tap dance, jazz, theatre dance, and musical theatre at levels novice through professional. She has served on the faculty for Broadway Dance Center, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Jacque D’Amboise’s National Dance Institute, American Theatre Dance Workshop, and NYC’s “famed” High School for Performing Arts. As a master teacher, Mary has taught throughout the country for Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America, National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts, and Robert Christopher’s National Dance Teachers Seminars. She has created choreography for musical theatre, cabaret, and concert dance. Mary holds a BFA in dance from NYU/Tisch School of the Arts.
