FAQ

Exec-Comm’s Approach

What is your approach to learning?

Communication skills, like many other skills, are built through self-awareness, practice, and feedback. We design our learning experiences to have these key elements.

What is your firm’s sweet spot?

We focus on live, practical skill building around business and management communication skills – interpersonal and intrapersonal. We address both internal (board, executives, peers, and direct reports) and external (clients, regulators, and investors) communication.

How are you different from other communication skills vendors?

We work with you every step of the way to ensure that the training experience reflects your needs, is engaging, and will build lasting skills. Our clients tell us that they enjoy working with us because we focus on building skills through hands-on practice. We leverage different ways to connect the participants’ practice to their real-world situations. <link to differentiators>

Your Exec-Comm Team

How will my consultant help me before, during, and after the workshop?

Your consultant is with you every step of the way. First, they will listen to your needs and ask questions to understand your company’s culture and goals. Next, they will develop a customized solution for your communication skills training needs. Then, they will create slides, teaching schedules, and a workbook to support your learning goals. In many cases, your consultant will also teach your workshop and they’re always available after to offer additional feedback, coaching, and consulting services, to debrief on the experience.

Who teaches the workshops?

Our seasoned team of global instructors come from a variety of backgrounds, including business, law, education, and the arts, among others. They all share the same passion: to help each and every participant communicate more effectively. Our instructors are all fully certified before they teach for us and most have had extensive experience leading training sessions for organizations of all sizes. <link to team page>

How are your instructors certified?

Whew, it’s a rigorous process! Before our facilitators ever work with participants they experience our workshops as attendees, learn the content in depth, and use their own business experience to bring the content to life. Most importantly, they learn how to coach participants using Exec-Comm’s unique methodology. They learn to help participants feel safe, and encourage them to move beyond their comfort zones to build skills that stick. <link to certification process>

Workshop Format

Our most popular delivery method is our experiential in-class training. We also offer virtual instructor-led training and blended learning to reach and bring together remote teams.

What is your ideal audience size?

We can accommodate audiences of all sizes, from working one-on-one to large groups of hundreds. Depending on your learning goal, we may recommend multiple instructors to better coach your participants and facilitate learning.

What is the instructor-to-participant ratio?

It’s recommended that most of our group workshops have two instructors for every 12 participants. We keep the ratio small intentionally, to leave room for open and honest feedback discussions and one-on-one coaching. Individual workshops may have a slightly different instructor-to-participant ratio.

How long are your workshops?

We offer everything from one-hour lunch and learns to five-day immersive workshops. Most clients prefer our one- or two-day experiences.

Workshop Experience

What will attendees learn?

Exec-Comm classes teach you to focus more on others, and less on yourself regardless of the scenario – presentations, meetings, email and proposal writing, negotiations, giving feedback, and motivating a team, just to name a few.

Do attendees have to do anything before the workshop?

Most of our classes require minimal pre-work. For example, during a presentation skills training class, we ask participants to bring a presentation they have recently delivered. We also have questionnaires that at times, participants fill out. Your consultant will let you know what pre-work is recommended based on your goals, then this can be adjusted based on your preferences.

How will Exec-Comm help attendees keep up with the new skills after the training?

We recognize reinforcement is key. You are investing in your employees with training and it is essential to hold them accountable for implementing the skills they learn through our workshops. To this end, we offer workbooks, checklists, and a proprietary online learning platform to supplement the classroom experience. In addition, your Exec-Comm consultant is available for free follow-up calls if participants have questions about what they learned. <link to sustainability page>
