Building Career Resiliency in Uncertain Times


The ongoing pandemic along with other issues in this volatile environment has impacted most, if not all, organizations. There continues to be uncertainty at both micro and macro levels. Depending on your function, industry, and location, the impact to you personally will vary in both form and intensity. Although it is not possible to avoid this or future adverse events, you can build your career resiliency to best weather these storms.

The Wharton Club of New York would like to support their alumni during these tough times and they are delighted to host Wharton alumni and Partner at Exec-Comm, Robert Chen, to lead this session.

  • Robert Chen

    Robert Chen leverages his business, science, and cross-cultural background to help Fortune 500 business leaders and their teams communicate and lead more effectively. He works with top firms across industries ranging from financial services to management consulting to healthcare. Robert’s specialities include: executive presence, deepening client relationships, selling skills, and designing and delivering impactful presentations. He coaches professionals in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Internally, he leads Exec-Comm’s talent management and business development function. He also teaches communication skills at the Wharton School for their MBA program.

    Robert began his career as an equities trader with Centurion Securities before sharpening his international business and project management skills at a multinational manufacturing company in China. After returning to the United States, Robert pursued his passion for developing others as a corporate trainer at Healthfirst. He continues to help people reach their full potential through his book, articles, and courses at Embrace Possibility, a digital media site he founded.

    Robert has an MBA from Wharton and double majored in Chemistry and Economics from Cornell University. He is certified in Marshall Goldsmith’s Stakeholder Centered Executive Coaching approach. Robert gives back to the Pan-Asian community by chairing a group of senior executives dedicated to increasing diversity in the C-suite. He enjoys immersing himself in different cultures and took an around-the-world trip spanning all seven continents before having kids. Now that he is settled in Brooklyn, New York with his wife, Amy, and his two sons, Jake and Jonah, he spends much of his family time switching between being a member of the Avengers and Justice League.
