The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing

P is for Promotion: How to get recognized at work!

10-21-2016

Join Brittany Marmanillo and Shilpa Vir at the 2016 Grace Hopper Conference Celebration of Women in Computing. They will run a career development workshop at this three-day conference designed to bring together women to discuss research and career interests.

Want a promotion at work or an offer after internship? This workshop offers a lively discussion of insights shared by 50+ people who got promoted as well as people who made promotion decisions. Participants will be shown how to develop a comprehensive strategy for increasing their chances of getting a promotion and gainign more visibility at their workplace. Promotions are not a given anymore. It used to be that workers progressed along specific career paths during their careers with time, but the impact of technology, globalization, and flatter organizational structures, has changed that paradigm. Today, employees have to create and manage their own career paths. However, despite working hard, there are some people who are better at getting recognized for their efforts than others.  Let us help you create a plan to achieve the success you deserve.

Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: GRB 360 A
